The George Meiling Tie

In November of 2006 Kit Kat George Meiling, quietly and on his own accord, commissioned and paid for ties for The Kit Kat Club. The creation of the Club Tie is a testament to George's way. George certainly would be a bit embarrassed if not resistant to the fact that The Tie now bears his name. Regardless, it's appropriate that his contribution be known as a symbol of the important part The Club plays in member's lives as well as the quiet beauty of humility. To this day his presence is missed.
About the Tie
The tie was designed by Ben Silver Co. of Charleston, SC and produced in England. In keeping with traditional British style, the diagonal stripes are directed toward the heart. The background color is Mutton Grey to evoke the famous mutton pies known as "Kit Kats" served at the tavern owned by Christopher Katt. The original Kit Kat Club of London met at Katt's tavern circa 1699 and took its name from the eponymous pies.
The Royal Blue and Buff stripes recall the colors then used by the Whig Party. Being a staunch Whig was a prerequisite for membership in the original Kit Kat Club. In today's context the stripe colors symbolize the colors of the Columbus Club where Kit Kat has regularly met since 1938.

The Kit Kat Club Tie regimental pattern is officially registered in Britain as the official tie of Kit Kat Club of Columbus, Ohio.
